SSWC Week of August 6

This weeks project:

Tell us about an experience or an event from the perspective of someone enjoying it, and someone experiencing the same event but hating it.

This is a little more involved assignment and late in the week so you have two weeks to work on this.

Happy Writing,

  2. Joy's heart began to beat more quickly. 'It's my turn now,' she thought excitedly. Slowly, she rose from her seat and walked to the stage. There stood the piano waiting for her. Taking a deep breath, she seated herself on the bench, and after a slight pause, began. A small thrill swept throughout her whole body as she played the first note of her recital piece. She imagined herself to be in a large concert hall playing for hundreds of people, rather than at a small recital for her parents and the other students' parents. 'Someday,' she said to herself. 'Someday, I'll play in Carnegie Hall.'

Somehow, Sophie had gotten to the piano and arranged her music. But now...she had to play. 'Why is this always so hard for me?' she questioned silently. 'Well, I'll just have to get through it...somehow.' Hands shaking, Sophie started, and she did make it through her piece. And as she played, she firmly resolved that she would conquer her fear of performing for audiences. And perhaps someday, she would rather enjoy recitals, instead of dreading them as she did now.

  3. The car rattled to a stop as the two looked down the small gravel road. The sign beside the main road directed this way to view Longneck Falls in 6 miles. Gavin enthusiastically pulled onto the gravel road and wondered what kind of adventure lay ahead and also what photo opportunities he might find. Lisa, the quiet girl beside him, let out a slow sigh and wondered if this journey would end up in catastrophe or worse. At first, the road only had a couple of curves with the gravel, even and well maintained. After five miles, the couple stopped at a fork in the road and saw two options before them. One path to the right continued much as the road behind them had but the path to the left looked as if only mountain bikes or horses could travel on it. The sign pointed left to get to the falls. Before Lisa could voice her protests, Gavin followed the path to the left and exclaimed that he couldn't wait to see the falls. Lisa squeezed her eyes tight and prayed for safety. These kind of roads always made her heart race and her palms sweat. No matter how breath-takingly beautiful the view might be, she would rather miss it than endure the agony of the trip. Gavin slowly brought the vehicle to rest and reached across to touch the hand of his bride of 60 years. "Shall we walk from here? It is just a mile and the exercise will do us good." Lisa glanced at Gavin as her eyes brimmed with tears. She thought "He is so thoughtful and kind to me. I need to trust him more just as I need to learn to trust my heavenly Father more with my fears and anxieties." Lisa stepped out of the car to join Gavin on the path.
